The Wharfedale Packhorse

Your Community Leisure Bus

 

The Wharfedale Packhorse provides low cost Saturday night bus services, connecting villages throughout Upper Wharfedale and Littondale, as well as runnning special trips to various destinations.  

 

The 17 seater minibus is available to hire for local people to have a trip out and for visiting groups to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales, with one of our drivers, subject to availability.

Wharfedale Packhorse Services:

Wharfedale Saturday Night Buses:

Run the first Saturday each month: Jan - Dec

  • Grassington - Kettlewell - Buckden - Cray

  • Grassington - Linton - Burnsall - Appletreewick

Littondale Saturday Buses:

Run the fifth Saturday each month: Apr - Sep

  • Grasington - Arncliffe - Litton - Buckden
  • Calling at Long Ashes, Kilnsey, Kettlewell, Starbotton

Saturday Night Bus Trips:

Run one Saturday night each month: Feb - Dec

  • From Kettlewell/Grassington to Harrogate via Pateley Bridge,  Hawes, Ilkley via Addingham, Richmond via Leyburn, Settle via Gargrave and Skipton.

Hire The Wharfedale Packhorse:

For your own trips: 16 seats plus driver

  • The Wharfedale Packhorse can be hired with one of our drivers subject to availability. Competitive rates from just £100.

Yorkshire Dales Tour Planning:

We can help you plan your trip

  • Whether you are going on a walking trip, out for a few drinks and doing the Ales Way - Wharfedale's Ale Trail, or a combination of the two, we can help with your itinerary.

Minibus Drivers Required:

Volunteers and paid drivers

  • As our services and bookings continue to grow, we will be looking for additional drivers on a voluntary or paid basis.  Full MIDAS training can also be provided

Bus services serve Littondale for the final time in 2018 on Saturday 29 September. Timetables are designed to connect with day time services to Ilkley, Skipton and Buckden.

The Wharfedale Packhorse is operated and administered by the Upper Wharfedale Community Interest Company with support from DalesBus, Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company and funded with the help of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Sustainable Development Fund, Dark Horse Brewery, Wharfedale Brewery, pubs throughout Wharfedale and Littondale and the Wharfedale Beer Festival.  Unlike most community minibuses, we receive absolutely no funding from Central Government nor North Yorkshire County Council.  We are entirely dependent on private finance and the goodwill of our users.  Collection tins are available on the bus - please give generously.
